A warm welcome to Glasgow

A warm welcome to Glasgow
GCU student Katy Xiaofang Zhao was amongst the 600 overseas students based in Glasgow who were invited to a recent civic reception at the city chambers.
Katy, who is from China and studying international tourism enterprise at GCU, met with Lord Provost Bob Winters and enjoyed a tour of the Riverside Museum and the People’s Palace.
Katy says: “I would like to thank the international office who gave me this opportunity, it was a great experience! I was extremely delighted when I saw Lord Provost, he is nice and easy-going - it was an honour to meet him. I got the ‘Glasgow's Coat of Arms’ brooch as a gift from him, which is beautiful and meaningful.”
Glasgow Lord Provost Bob Winter commented: “Our higher education institutions make a major contribution to the economic, social and cultural life of our city and I am sure all the students from other countries will enrich our city’s life and in turn enjoy all Glasgow has to offer.”
