EU Referendum update - free tuition fees in Scotland for EU students enrolling for 2018-19

Deputy First Minister John Swinney has announced today (March 24) that European Union nationals choosing to study in Scotland and enrolling in 2018-2019 academic year will be guaranteed free tuition for the duration of their entire course. The Scottish Government had previously confirmed free tuition in Scotland for EU students enrolling for 2017-18.

Principal and Vice-Chancellor Professor Pamela Gillies CBE FRSE said: "I welcome the announcement by the Scottish Government that the post-Brexit fees status of EU students commencing their studies in academic year 2018/19 will be protected. It is clear that the Scottish Government is taking great strides to provide reassurance for prospective EU students and I hope our existing EU staff and students are encouraged by this positive announcement. As we continue to engage in Brexit discussions, protecting the interests of our EU staff and students remains our utmost priority."
