GCU hosts Vision for Glasgow Libraries meeting

Professor Lesley Sawers

Representatives from Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) this week hosted a meeting for the ‘A Vision for Glasgow Libraries’ project board to explore the future of libraries in the city and their contribution to the economic and social priorities.

The project board, led by Chair John McCormick, an independent director of Glasgow Life, aims to engage users and stakeholders to develop a plan to make libraries anchor-points linking outward looking, metropolitan aspirations with a broad range of local neighbourhood information, welfare, democratic engagement, learning, community cohesion, heritage and cultural provision.

GCU’s Pro Vice-Chancellor of Business, Innovation and Enterprise, Professor Lesley Sawers, and Director of Libraries Robert Ruthven, met with key stakeholders to discuss the opportunities for collaboration across the library sector and the contribution of the higher education sector to the development of Glasgow as a ‘knowledge city’.
