Glasgow Caledonian takes great pride in providing exceptional student support. We offer a full range of services to help make your time at the university as fulfilling and enjoyable as possible. Below is a selection of the services we provide.

Academic Registry

The Academic Registry deals with all matters of the governance of the university. This includes important issues such as admission and registration on to your programme, assessment regulations, appeals and graduation.

Careers Service

Even if you’re just beginning your degree, it’s never too early to contact the Careers Service. We’re here to help you plan your career every step of the way.

Faith and Belief

We have a team of visiting chaplains from several denominations, including a chaplain to our international students.


We have a nursery on campus for children from six weeks old to pre-school.

Disability Team

We welcome and encourage applications from students with disabilities. Staff are available to answer any questions you may have and help you find out more about the support services on offer.

Positive Living Team

The Positive Living Team are here to help you with any emotional difficulties from homesickness to longer-term issues.

Personal tutor

When you begin your degree, you will be assigned your own personal tutor to talk things through, offer advice and point you in the direction of our many support facilities.

Scottish Wider Access Programme (SWAP)

If you don’t have the normal entry requirements for degree level study, successful completion of an Access programme can guarantee you entry to specified degree programmes at college or university.

Summer School

Summer School offers a variety of courses designed to prepare you for entry to your chosen degree programme and for university life.

Widening access

At Glasgow Caledonian, we welcome students from a variety of different backgrounds, providing opportunities and encouraging applications in a number of ways.

Visa Immigration Advice and Support (V.I.S.A.)

The V.I.S.A. Team are a Professional Service dedicated to supporting both international students and staff, specialising in visa immigration advice and processing visa applications.

IT facilities and support

During semester you have access to computers throughout campus seven days a week. Off campus you can log onto your webmail account, ‘my.caledonian’, to access university information, exam results and to apply for modules. You may also find that your programme is supported by our virtual learning environment ‘Blackboard’. You can get help and advice in using the IT facilities at your disposal from the ICT Skills Unit.


Within the Sir Alex Ferguson Library, you’ll find a team of subject librarians who can help you find information for coursework and dissertations and tell you about library services.

Learning Development Centres

Each School in the University has a Learning Development Centre (LDC) which provides academic writing support for home and international students, ICT support, advice on study skills and other academic support and guidance.
