What do I pay?

Here are the costs you need to consider before applying for a non-EU exchange:

  • Visa – travel to Embassy and application fee
  • Health insurance from partner institution
  • Travel
  • Accommodation & living expenses
  • You will need to show sufficient funds in your bank account to support your period abroad.

Do I pay tuition fees?

No, exchange students do not pay tuition fees and you are entitled to any grant or loans you already receive.

Is there any funding?

Exchanges/EU Summer Programmes & work placements with Spanish speaking institutions are eligible for Santander funding. The amounts are:

  2012/13
Year £1000
Trimester £500
3 moths £300

At present there is no further funding to assist students going on exchange, but please check the GCU scholarships for possible general funding opportunities. 

Another useful website is the British Universities Transatlantic Exchange Association (BUTEX).

What are the deadlines for 2012/13?

 The deadlines that GCU set for Overseas exchange applications are:

How do I find out more about the countries and visas?

Contact GCU’S ‘Erasmus Student Network’ (ESN), they will put you in contact with students who have been on exchange or who are here on exchange and tell you of any upcoming events.
