Data Analytics and AI Machine Learning CPD

If you’re working in the area of credit risk and would like to upskill in Data Analytics and AI Machine Learning, GCU is offering a fully-funded CPD course.

The use of machine learning and AI across financial services has increased dramatically since 2007’s global financial crisis. So much so, that McKinsey’s ‘The Executives’ AI Playbook’ reports that AI (artificial intelligence) technologies could deliver an estimated $1trillion of additional value annually.

The ability to speed up decision making with accurate and targeted predictive analytics through the use of data science, assures a largely predictable outcome allowing banks and other organisations to make data-driven decisions for products, services and operations.

However, many financial institutions have struggled to move from pilot to effective delivery models across their organisations. This is due to a range of issues across strategy, data assets management and a lack of clear investment in this area, but none of these issues can be resolved without the right skills becoming core to the business.

For companies in the finance sector to become ‘AI-first’ institutions, they must ensure that key employees are equipped to lead them there.

This fully-funded, master's-level, 15-credit module aims to develop the fundamental concepts, theory and techniques that enable AI and its practical uses in today’s business and society, but specifically within a credit risk modelling environment. The module will provide you with a balanced appreciation for problem solving and decision making around the appropriateness of using AI in the context of credit risk modelling.

Entry requirements and module details

This module is ideal for anyone who would like to further develop an understanding and application of credit risk modelling and techniques to implement and evaluate.

As part of an industrial upskilling initiative, Glasgow Caledonian University in collaboration with the Scottish Funding Council has 30 fully-funded places for candidates seeking to grow their applied knowledge and understanding of Credit Risk Modelling in the context of AI and Machine Learning. This is a GCU certificated 15-credit module at SCQF level 11.
