Overview

The MSc Professional Accountancy (ACCA Route) offers you a dual recognition qualification, gaining a GCU master's degree alongside your Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) professional qualification. This degree can be studied online or at our Glasgow campus on a full-time or part-time basis offering you the flexibility to complete your qualification.

This degree is aimed at students who have completed the ACCA applied knowledge and applied skills papers or have exemptions from these nine exams from an ACCA accredited degree course. (If you still have to complete these fundamental exam papers GCU offers you this opportunity on our ACCA Gold-accredited course.)

The master's course aligns with the ACCA Strategic Professional exams, allowing you to sit your ACCA exams at the end of each module. On successful completion of the degree, you will be equipped with a range of employability skills required of the professional accountant in a global business environment, such as critical awareness of issues involved in leading and managing the financial aspects of organisations. By doing so, it will prepare you for the demands placed upon the manager within the contemporary business environment. You will also have the opportunity to develop and demonstrate your ability to undertake independent research focusing on a business problem relevant to your area of interest.

The degree will also provide a good foundation if you are wishing to further your academic studies leading to PhD level.

Graduate prospects

On completion of the degree, you will be fully exam qualified with ACCA and have an MSc Professional Accountancy. Not only will this degree set you apart from other graduates with a dual recognition qualification, you will also have the skills required to move into management roles within the private or public sector.
