This programme offers a unique opportunity for students to study care delivery within two fields of practice, Learning Disability and Child, and is structured to give you a range of theory and practice modules in both fields.
This is a new and innovative pathway and as a student nurse you will learn through a variety of methods. 50% of your experience will be clinical practice; strong links and integrated practice learning with local health and social care providers will allow you to put theory into practice and develop a wide range of skills.
This broad variety of settings will allow for the widest possible experience, equipping you to provide person and family-centred care underpinned by relevant and contemporary knowledge.

- SQA Higher
- BBBB including English and preferably a science and Nat 5 Maths and a Science at C
- A Level
- BCC preferably including a science subject, and GCSE English language, a Science and Maths at C/4
- ILC Higher
- H2 H2 H3 H3 including English and preferably a science subject, plus Ordinary Level Maths at 02
- IB Diploma
- 24 points including a science plus Maths and English
- BTEC Extended Diploma
- Applied Science, Biological/Biomedical Science or Health Care related at DMM. GCSE Maths and English at C/4 is also required.
- HNC Care and Administrative Practice or a science-based HNC with an A in the graded unit will be considered. Applicants must have numeracy and literacy equivalent to National 5 level.
Accepted as equivalent to one Higher as part of the overall grade profile of Highers required for entry. Any essential subjects at Higher should still be achieved in addition to the Foundation Apprenticeship.
(BSc) Year 2
- HNC Care and Administrative Practice with B in the Graded Units, successful completion of 600 clinical hours but advised to achieve as close to 620 clinical hours as possible (in designated clinical area). Candidates need to obtain a minimum of 90% attendance at College and a minimum of 90% attendance at Practice Placement. Applications subject to interview and places and must be supported by the college partner.
- Applicants are expected to have evidence of assessed study within the last 5 years. Selected applicants will be invited to attend one of our Applicant Days as part of the admissions process.
Academic IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with no element below 5.5.
If you do not meet the English language requirements, you may be eligible for our pre-sessional English programme which is taught at our Glasgow campus.

For new international students, particular care is taken around our induction events which begin on 13 September 2019 to welcome you to the UK and GCU prior to the start of teaching. There will be a whole host of fun and informative activities taking place during this period, including campus tours, city tours and social events where you can meet other international students. Where possible, we encourage you to arrange travel to allow you to arrive in time to enjoy these.

*Total tuition fees for RUK students completing a three or four year degree are capped at £27,750.

Additional costs for fee paying students
Self-funded students are required to cover the cost of the following:
- Uniforms, approximately £15 each. The number of uniforms you require depends on duration of your course and can range from two to four.
- Occupational health checks and vaccination, approximately £200.
- Membership of Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme. New applications cost £59. Updates to existing scheme record costs £18.
