The International Business with Languages degree from Glasgow Caledonian University brings you practical and research-based business and language teaching. You will have the opportunity to master two foreign languages including French, Spanish, German or Italian, to study abroad with your chosen languages via international study exchange, and to gain experience in the business, management and leadership skills you will use throughout your international business career.

Clearing entry requirements

A Level: CCD at - must include AS Level at either French, German, Italian or Spanish at B plus GCSE Maths C and English C (A Level CDD at is acceptable as long as you have a relevant subject such as Business Management/Applied Business/Accounting/Economics, as well as the AS and GCSE requirements)
BTEC/CACHE: Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business or other relevant subject at MMP plus a language at minimum AS Level B (French/Spanish/Italian/German), as well as GCSE requirements 

Standard entry requirements

SQA Higher: ABBBB including English and a language (French, German, Italian or Spanish) plus Nat 5 Maths at C

A level: BCC including AS Level French, German, Italian or Spanish at B, plus GCSE Maths and English at C/4

ILC Higher: H1, H2, H3, H3, H3, including English and language (either French, German, Italian or Spanish) at H2 or above plus Maths at H5 or O2

IB Diploma: 25 points must include English and a language (either French, German, Italian or Spanish) and Maths

BTEC: Level 3 Extended Diploma at DMM including AS Level French, German, Italian or Spanish at B plus GCSE Maths and English at C/4

Foundation Apprenticeship

Accepted as equivalent to one Higher as part of the overall grade profile of Highers required for entry. Any essential subjects at Higher should still be achieved in addition to the Foundation Apprenticeship.

English Language

Academic IELTS score of 6.0 (or equivalent) with no element below 5.5.

Please note: if you are from a majority English speaking country, you may not be required to provide further proof of your English Language proficiency.

Other academic and vocational qualifications

Each application to GCU is considered on an individual basis. If you do not have the typical academic entry qualifications, but can demonstrate relevant work experience and/or credits from recognised professional bodies, you may be eligible to enter this course via the University's Recognition of Prior Learning scheme.

You will receive a range of individual and group assessments. Exams are used in some modules; however, many assignments are coursework based. You will be asked for written reports, presentations, portfolios, blogs and wikis on the subjects you are studying.

We provide experiential learning. This means that you get to take part in real-world projects, case studies and research-based assessments. You will find that this way of learning gives you an expertise that is easier to transfer into real life practice. Live case work can help improve your critical thinking in the business context. During your degree you will build a bank of experiences that you can reflect on and learn from.

Successful leaders and managers need to know how to work as part of a diverse, often virtual team. We believe that group work is an essential practice for every business student. We actively feature group projects, presentations and report writing in our degree modules.
