How Clearing works

What is Clearing?

In Clearing, you can apply for courses when your exam results are not as good as expected, or when you already have your exam results and are applying for the first time after 30 June.

Is Clearing for me?

Clearing is for you if

  • you’ve made an application for September but haven’t received any offers
  • you’ve received a conditional offer on your UCAS application but didn’t meet the conditions of this offer
  • you’re making a new UCAS application after 30 June

Key dates for 2020

  • 6 July: UCAS officially opens Clearing
  • 4 August: SQA exam results day 2020
  • 13 August: A Level exam results day 2020

How to go through Clearing

1. Use the search tool on the UCAS website to find Clearing vacancies. Please note that the online list is updated regularly.

2. Once you’ve found a course you want to apply for, contact us on our Clearing helpline 0800 027 9171. Alternatively, we can talk you through the degree courses you meet the requirements for.

3. After you’ve made a decision, visit UCAS, add your GCU Clearing choice to your application and fill in the course details with the date we give you on the phone.
