You may need to disconnect from the gcu-wifi-setup wireless network before connecting to eduroam

Android devices

  1. Go to your Google Play store and search for "geteduroam"


  2. Download to your device to proceed.

  3. Tap Open

  4. Press the search box and start typing "Glasgow Caledonian University"

  5. Select "Glasgow Caledonian University" from the list then click Next

  6. Enter your login credentials
    students -- username {username}@caledonian.ac.uk and password
    staff -- username {username}@gcu.ac.uk and password

  7. Tap Connect to network

  8. You will now be connected to eduroam when on campus or in a eduroam supported location
iOS Devices (iPads, iPhones)
  1. Go to your Apple App store search for "geteduroam"


  2. Download to your device to proceed.

  4. Press the seach box and start typing "Glasgow Caledonian University"

  5. Select "Glasgow Caledonian University" from the list then click Next

  6. Enter your login credentials
    students -- username {username}@caledonian.ac.uk and password
    staff -- username {username}@gcu.ac.uk and password

  7. Tap Connect to network

  8. You will now be connected to eduroam when on campus or in a eduroam supported location
Mac OS X Devices (Laptops)
  1. Please visit https://cat.eduroam.org/?idp=145‌

  3. You will be prompted to allow cat.eduroam.org to download a file. Click Allow

  4. A pop-up on the upper right of the screen will ask if you want to install the eduroam profile.

  5. Click the apple logo, system preferences, profiles

  6. Click Install... under the Profiles window, enter your systems username and password to approve install‌

    students -- username {username}@caledonian.ac.uk and password
    staff -- username {username}@gcu.ac.uk and password

  8. You will see the eduroam connection is Verified

  9. You will now be connected to eduroam when on campus or in a eduroam supported location
Windows Devices

  3. Open downloaded file (example using Google Chrome)

  4. A warning advising this will only work properly if you are a member of GCU.  Click OK

  5. Click Next  >

  6. Enter your login credentials
    students -- username {username}@caledonian.ac.uk and password
    staff -- username {username}@gcu.ac.uk and password

  7. Click Finish to complete the install

  8. You will now be connected to eduroam when on campus or in a eduroam supported location
Chrome Devices
  1. Switch on your Chromebook
  2. Select your language and keyboard language from the top two menus
  3. In the third menu select eduroam
  4. In EAP method select PEAP
  5. In Phase 2 authentication select MSCHAPv2
  6. Leave Server CA certificate as Default
  7. In Identity type your email address
    {username}@caledonian.ac.uk if you are a student
    {username}@gcu.ac.uk if you are a staff member
    and enter your password.
  8. Leave Anonymous identity as blank
  9. Ensure the Save identity and password option is checked and click Connect
  10. Once enabled, click Continue

You are now connected to the eduroam wireless network.

  • IMAP3: TCP/220 egress and established
  • IMAPS: TCP/993 egress and established

  • POP3S: TCP/995 egress and established
  • SMTPS: TCP/465 egress and established
  • Message submission: TCP/587 egress and established

Web

  • HTTP: TCP/80 egress and established
  • HTTPS: TCP/443 egress and established

VPN

  • Standard IPSec VPN: IP protocols 50 (ESP) and 51 (AH) both egress and ingress; TCP/500 (IKE) egress only
  • IPSec NAT traversal: UDP/4500 egress and established
  • Cisco IPSec NAT traversal: TCP/10000 egress and established
  • PPTP: IP protocol 47 (GRE) egress and established; TCP/1723 egress and established
  • OpenVPN: TCP/5000 egress and established
  • IPv6 Tunnel Broker NAT traversal: UDP/3653 and TCP/3653 egress and established

Remote Desktop

  • RDP: TCP/3389 egress and established
