It is recommended to use the eduroam CAT (Configuration Assistance Tool) for setting up your wifi connection.
This can be applied whether you are on or off campus.

On Campus
For devices that do not have an internet connection


Search for and connect to the Wireless network called gcu-wifi-setup.
Open a web browser and the following web page with connection instructions will open up: http://www.gcu.ac.uk/staff/it/wirelessaccess/gcu-setup-wifi

For devices that already have an internet connection

Off Campus

Android devices

  1. Go to your Google Play store and search for "geteduroam"


  2. Download to your device to proceed.

  4. Press the search box and start typing "Glasgow Caledonian University"

  7. Tap Connect to network

  8. You will now be connected to eduroam when on campus or in a eduroam supported location
iOS Devices (iPads, iPhones)
  1. Go to your Apple App store search for "geteduroam"


  2. Download to your device to proceed.

  4. A pop-up on the upper right of the screen will ask if you want to install the eduroam profile.

  5. Click the apple logo, system preferences, profiles

  6. Click Install... under the Profiles window, enter your systems username and password to approve install‌

  4. A warning advising this will only work properly if you are a member of GCU.  Click OK

Chrome Devices
  1. Switch on your Chromebook
  2. Select your language and keyboard language from the top two menus
  3. In the third menu select eduroam
  4. In EAP method select PEAP
  5. In Phase 2 authentication select MSCHAPv2
  6. Leave Server CA certificate as Default
  7. In Identity type your email address
    {username}@caledonian.ac.uk if you are a student
    {username}@gcu.ac.uk if you are a staff member
    and enter your password.
  8. Leave Anonymous identity as blank
  9. Ensure the Save identity and password option is checked and click Connect
  10. Once enabled, click Continue

You are now connected to the eduroam wireless network.
