News updates (including COVID-19 travel advice)

Please check our Ready for you at GCU pages, for up to date information from the University regarding Coronavirus.

Please also check The NHS Inform website on a regular basis for further updates.

Students coming to the UK from overseas on a Student visa may need to quarantine (in a managed hotel or self-isolate) upon arrival. The rules depend on where you are travelling to and where you are travelling from.

Please note the cost for managed hotel quarantine increased on 12th August to £2,285 (Rate for 1 adult in 1 room for 10 days (11 nights)), including 2 PCR Covid tests for days 2 and 8. Additional rate for 1 adult (or child over 11) is now £1,430.

The cost of the government approved COVID-19 testing kits has been reduced to £68 per test for Day 2 and 8 of your self isolation and you must book your testing kit using the CTM Booking Portal

If you are travelling directly to Scotland and isolating in Scotland, please refer to the information on the Scottish Government webpages.

If you are travelling to England and isolating in England, please refer to the information on the UK Government webpages.

These webpages provide detailed information on what you need to do before you travel and upon arrival. The advice is different depending on whether you are travelling from a red list country, an amber list country, or a green list country.

If you are transferring to Scotland via England please check with your travel agent or carrier whether you need to book your hotel to quarantine in England before continuing on to Scotland, if you are coming from a 'Red list' country.

Please note that the guidance is subject to change and so you should ensure you check this again before your travel date to ensure you are following the correct most up to date advice.

If you have any queries about the requirements please contact the VISA Team.
