Graduating in Absentia

If you cannot attend the ceremony, or do not wish to, you can graduate “in absentia”.
This means that you choose to graduate without attending a ceremony. In such cases your award certificate will be posted by recorded delivery (and airmail if appropriate) to your home address within 10 working days of the ceremony from which you officially graduated.
You must, however, still register to graduate by completing the online registration form and paying the £50 fee during the specified Graduation Registration period.

If you register to graduate but fail to turn up, you will graduate in absentia. We will post your certificate to your home address as outlined above.

If, for any reason, you are unable to attend the ceremony, please let us know, by emailing us at graduation@gcu.ac.uk as soon as possible before your ceremony.

Distance Learning Graduands
Distance learning graduands are invited to one of our Glasgow ceremonies or can, of course, graduate in absentia.

Info for friends and family unable to attend
Friends and family of graduands unable to attend can view the ceremonies live via webcast. Further information can be found in the "Live Streaming Info" section on the Graduation Day page.
