GCU dominate nominations in the Scottish Student Journalism Awards

15 May 2019

GCU are set to dominate at this year’s Scottish Student Journalism Awards after fifteen students were nominated for awards!

GCU has received nominations in a variety of categories including Student Journalist of the Year, Feature of the Year and The Gender Equal Media Scotland Award.

The Scottish Student Journalism Awards celebrate outstanding Journalism students by giving them a platform to showcase their work to some of the industry’s leading professionals.

This year the SSJA will run in partnership with the Scottish Newspaper Society and in association with BBC Scotland.

Multimedia Journalism student Elle Duffy is nominated for Broadcast Story of the Year. She said: “It feels surreal to have been shortlisted for a Scottish Student Journalism Award, especially amongst a bunch of really deserving candidates.

My shortlisted piece is a television package on last year’s Equal Pay Strike in Glasgow. I barged my way onto the stage to get the shots I wanted and it looks like it paid off!”

The winners will be announced on May 30 at The Marriott Hotel in Glasgow.
