From Glasgow International Airport
As part of the Welcome Programme, the University offers a Meet & Greet Service where you will be greeted by Student Ambassadors at Glasgow International Airport to welcome you with a smile to Glasgow and help with any initial problems or questions you have.
They will guide you to airport transport links to get to the University:
The First 500 Glasgow Shuttle or First 747 AirLink will take you direct to Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station, they run frequent services. The last stop for both buses is Buchanan Bus Station:
- The First 500 Glasgow Shuttle is an express service which departs every 10 mins. The journey to Glasgow Buchanan Bus Station normally takes around 25 minutes. Available from Stance 1.
- The First 747 AirLink takes slightly longer, around 50 minutes with stops including Southern General Hospital and Braehead Shopping Centre. Available from Stance 6.
Student Discount Ticket is available, please show University Letter to driver when purchasing your ticket.
Once you arrive at the bus station, walk towards the taxi rank and walk up the stairs past the taxi rank and the University is directly across the road. You will see a tall building with the GCU logo.
You can take a taxi direct to the University, there is a taxi rank at the airport. This will cost around £25. You should agree the cost with the driver before you begin your journey.
IMPORTANT- While Travelling
Please make sure that you carry all your essential documents relating to your visa and the University in your hand luggage. It is also advisable to carry a copy of your passport/current visa in case you lose your documents while travelling and ensure you have an electronic scanned copy for your own records.. A helpful tip: scan a copy of your passport and visa to your email so you have a copy stored for future or in an emergency.

From Glasgow Prestwick Airport:
There are several bus services available to take you to Glasgow City Centre:
- The X99/X100 Express Bus Service will take approx. 45 minutes and costs £10 (£9 pre-booked).
- The Stagecoach Western X77 Express Service around 50 minutes.
The airport strongly recommended you pre-book tickets, but you can buy your ticket on the bus from the driver.
You can get a train direct to Glasgow Central Station (which is within walking distance from University). The journey will take 50 minutes. Ensure you travel with your flight confirmation and ticket when buying your train ticket for a 50% discount.
