The Vision Centre at Glasgow Caledonian University services our vision science staff and students by providing clinical training facilities for up to 120 Optometrists and 30 Dispensing Opticians annually. During teaching semesters patients are examined by students under the direct supervision of experienced and qualified clinical staff. In addition the Clinical Optometrist provides a full range of eye examination services throughout the year.

The centre is open to the public 9.00am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday. It is equipped to the highest standards and is housed in modern purpose built facility situated on the Ground Floor of the Govan Mbeki Health Building in the university campus on Cowcaddens Road. There is ramp and automated wide door access for wheelchairs, and lift access between floors for disabled patients.

The centre provides full eye examination and dispensing under General Ophthalmic Services (NHS) regulations. Eye examinations are free under NHS regulations. There are charges for specialist examinations and reports depending on the nature of the report (see Specialised Clinics) including Colour Vision and Visual Stress Clinics where these are not covered by Health Authorities.
