Dear Student,

I am delighted that you have accepted a place on one of our programmes. I would like to welcome you to the School of Engineering and Built Environment (EBE). We will do our very best for you and I hope that you will enjoy and benefit from your studies in the School. The degree programme you have chosen has been carefully designed, after widespread consultation with industry and the professional institutions. This is very important and ensures that on graduation you will be well placed to pursue the career of your choice equipped with a valuable and sustainable set of skills and attributes.

Throughout your studies, you will be exposed to a range of relevant learning opportunities with much of your time spent in our state-of-the-art laboratory facilities with lectures delivered by highly qualified and approachable academic staff.  We will encourage you to study hard and that will require dedication beyond just the contact hours of your programme. Rest assured that your programme is designed to afford you many opportunities for networking and socialisation that are essential to the development of a well rounded graduate. I ask that you give your best during your studies with us.  We will certainly endeavour to match your commitment to your studies and ensure your expectations are fully realised.

It remains for me to simply wish you every success for the year ahead.
