GCU Student’s Association recently held their annual STAR Awards – with 16 winners declared on a night of celebrating student success.

Second year Multimedia Journalism student Bethany Watt received the award for “Best Article” for GCU’s The Edit, with her article titled “Hitchcock walked so Spielberg could run” which features her take on classic film.

Bethany, who has been writing for The Edit since she was in First Year, was delighted to have had her work recognised.

She said: “Winning the article was so left field! When I saw I was shortlisted I couldn't believe it, especially after reading the other articles which were all so well written and researched.

It's so lovely to be noticed and awarded for something that I'd like to pursue as a career and I'm super thankful! I've been writing for The Edit since first year and I love writing about everything really, but have a real interest in cinema and I like the research involved.”

She added: “I'd say to people interested in writing for The Edit to go for it, the team are so welcoming and talented. At the end of the day, it's the best feeling to see something you've written printed or online and to see your name written at the bottom of the page.

It's important to take advantage of these chances to express yourself and writing for The Edit is a great way to do so.”
