Adil Rahoo was recently elected as Vice President (GSBS) and started his role with GCU Students’ Association at the beginning of June.

We caught up with Adil and found out his aims and goals for the year, as well as his love for Game of Thrones and F.R.I.E.N.D.S!

Firstly, how do you feel about being elected as VP GSBS?:

“Simply put, it has been amazing. I have been humbled by the love and support I have received from the students of GCU throughout my election campaign and now as VP GSBS. From being cheered by GCU students all around Glasgow, miles away from the University itself, to receiving messages of students referring to the milestones I’ve reached in GCU as inspirational. I have nothing but love for the students of GCU and it brings me honour to serve as VP this year.”

Could you briefly let us know what you would like to achieve as VP?:

“To keep it very brief, as VP this year, I aim to creatively improve the student experience of all GCU students. This includes their entire journey from the moment they join till they graduate. The focus would revolve around improving student mental health, increased access to opportunities of interest, better employability, pushing for student cost savings and upholding the interests of our vulnerable, religious and ethnic minority groups. This is not an exhaustive list but merely a few points from my bigger plan. Truth be told, we may hit some roadblocks due to the unprecedented situation we are under. However, “great things happen to those who don’t stop fighting”.

What did you study at GCU?:

“BA Business and Management”

What did you always want to be when you grew up?:

“Become the Prime Minister of my home country and build a legacy.”

Favourite film/TV show?:

“Game of Thrones, F.R.I.E.N.D.S and The Godfather.”

Favourite food?:

“Fish and chips

Biryani (Try it!)”

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live and why?

“In a private island because…why not!”
