GCU has been highly commended for a social media campaign by Edurank – the education sector’s leading benchmark for social media analytics.
The ‘#GCUErasetheGrey’ campaign - which highlights the work the University has done to combat sexual and gender-based violence - was nominated for an Edurank Award in the “Best Campaign Supporting Student Wellbeing” category and, despite losing out to The University of Salford, was the only Scottish University to receive a ‘Highly Commended’ accolade.
Last year, staff and students worked together to create a digital poster campaign that challenged stereotypical views and reiterated GCU’s zero-tolerance policy towards gender-based violence. The messaging was displayed prominently on campus and was supported by a social media campaign that encouraged people to change attitudes and behaviours by raising awareness of the issue.
GCU Director of Student Life, Jackie Main, said: “This is the first time the University has been recognised for our work on social media and it’s particularly pleasing that it’s for a campaign we are so passionate about.”
