Auto Installer Instructions

Visit https://cat.eduroam.org to download the auto-installer for your specific device.  

When prompted to login, enter the following details:

  • Username: your gcu username@gcu.ac.uk, eg: AJONES001@gcu.ac.uk
  • Password: Your current domain password

If you do not know your current domain password, you can reset it by following the instructions under 'How to reset your password'

Mac & iOS devices

Mac Devices (Laptops)

If you have previously used eduroam with an old password, or from another establishment you will need to first remove the previous settings:

  1. Go to Applications folder > Utilities > Keychain Access > Passwords 
  2. Search the list for eduroam and delete these entries
  3. Select the Apple Logo > System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi or Airport then select Advance
  4. Remove any network profiles named GCU or eduroam by selecting the name and pressing the '-' button, then close the window

To connect to eduroam:

  1. Select the Apple Logo > System Preferences > Network > Wi-Fi or Airport
  2. Open the drop down menu for Network Name menu, select Join other network then Show Networks. Select eduroam and press OK
  3. Enter your username in the following format: 
    • username@gcu.ac.uk (eg ajones01@gcu.ac.uk)
    • Please note that this user name is NOT an email address
  4. Enter your domain password & click Join
  5. When presented with the Verify Certificate notification, click Continue
  6. Enter your Keychain password if prompted
  7. You are now connected to eduroam

iOS Devices (iPads, iPhones)

If you have previously used eduroam with an old password, or from another establishment you will need to first remove the previous settings:

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi, click the blue I button beside eduroam and select Forget This Network

To connect to eduroam:

  1. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and under Choose a Network click eduroam
  2. Enter your username in the following format:
    • username@gcu.ac.uk (eg ajones01@gcu.ac.uk)
    • Please note that this user name is NOT an email address
  3. Enter your domain password & click Join
  4. When presented with the Certificate notification, click Accept
  5. You are now connected to eduroam

 

Android Devices

Some Android devices may have different menu options; these instructions may vary slightly between makes and models of handset and version of Android.

If you have previously used eduroam with an old password, or from another establishment you will need to first remove the previous settings:

  1. Go to Settings > Wireless > turn on Wifi
  2. Tap and hold the eduroam connection and select Forget network

To connect to eduroam:

  1. Go to  Settings > Wireless > turn on Wifi, search for and select eduroam
  2. If you haven't already configured credential storage, you may be asked for a password to protect the credential storage on your phone. This is a security setting on your handset and not your University Computer password. Enter a memorable password here to continue.
  3. Set EAP method to PEAPPhase 2 authentication to MSCHAPV2
    • On Android Nugget (V7) devices, you need to select Do not validate under CA Certificate
  4. Enter your username in the following format: 
    • username@gcu.ac.uk (eg abc1@gcu.ac.uk)
    • Please note that this user name is NOT an email address
  5. Enter your domain password
  6. Leave Anonymous Identity blank
  7. Tap the Connect button
  8. You may need to wait a little while (up to about a minute) until the message "Connected to eduroam" appears
Windows Devices

Windows Laptops

If you have previously used eduroam with an old password, or from another establishment you will need to first remove the previous settings:

  1. Click the Network icon on the lower right corner of your screen
  2. Click Network settings
  3. Click Manage Wi-Fi settings
  4. Under Manage known networks, click the network you want to delete
  5. Click Forget. The wireless network profile is deleted

To connect to eduroam:

  1. Search for and connect to the Wireless network called eduroam
  2. Enter your username in the following format:
    • username@gcu.ac.uk (eg ajones01@gcu.ac.uk)
    • Please note that this user name is NOT an email addres
  3. Enter your domain password & click Connect
  4. On the first connection, you will be presented with a certificate authorisation page, click Connect.
  5. You are now connected to eduroam

Windows Mobile Devices

  1. Tap Settings then tap Wi-Fi
  2. Tap eduroam from the list of networks
  3. Enter your username in the following format:
    • username@gcu.ac.uk (eg ajones01@gcu.ac.uk)
    • Please note that this user name is NOT an email addres
  4. Enter your domain password & click Done
  5. You are now connected to eduroam
