Student Summit

First introduced in 2013 as an annual event, the University’s Student Experience Summit brings students and staff together to discuss topics which are important to the enhancement of the GCU student experience.  Examples of the topics discussed at recent Summits include Developing a GCU Student Partnership Agreement and Mental Wealth – Enhancing GCU Student Wellbeing.

The Summit is open to all staff and students and places are normally limited to 100 for each event. The aim is to achieve a good balance between student and staff attendance from across the whole university.  Depending on the topic and format of the event, external speakers and guests may also be invited to attend.

From 2018/19 we are making some changes to the format of the Summit and will hold two Summits each academic year – late February and early November.  Each event will start at 10 am and finish with a networking lunch at midday.

The structure of each Summit is determined by the topic and the aim is to ensure a stimulating, interactive environment where students and staff can make connections and work in partnership to help shape the GCU student experience. Events normally feature speakers, interactive breakout discussion and/or presentations. The Summit is normally chaired by the Student President.

The Summit is a valuable opportunity for students and staff to come together to make a real and valuable difference to a key aspect of the GCU student experience. Crucially, the topic for the Summit is agreed by the Enhancing the Student Experience (ETSE) Steering Group and is aligned with the university’s 2020 Student Experience Action Plan.

The outputs from the Summit are made publicly available on the university’s student web pages after each event and are also reported to the ETSE Steering Group
