Peer Assisted Student Support (Physiotherapy)

Trained Physiotherapy students support groups of new undergraduates to settle into university life, develop study skills and discuss general course content.

What’s involved?
PASS sessions are delivered as part of the timetable on a weekly basis and are designed to be informal, friendly and student led. Rooms are booked by staff for PASS leaders to meet with level 1 students for some extra tuition and practice. Each week different topics are discussed ranging from subjects covered in the course to skills development or more general issues relating to settling into university life.
How will participating in this activity/opportunity allow students to make a positive difference to the communities that we serve?
GCU has a widening participation agenda and as such the PASS programme aims to assist year 1 students with the transition to university study. Trained PASS leaders support groups of new undergraduate students to settle into university life, develop study skills and discuss academic course content.
What are the benefits of taking part in this activity/opportunity for participating students?
By attending sessions students meet others on the programme and get hints and tips from a more experienced PASS leader who understands the challenges that the year 1 student is facing.

Which students can participate in this activity?
Two level 2 students are selected by staff to take on a PASS leader role.
