Student Mentors (College Connect)

Student Mentors with College Connect help increase young people's confidence, skills and life-long learning aspirations and help college students transition to GCU.

This scheme gives those who participate the opportunity to develop the following Common Good attributes:

  • Active and global citizenship
  • Confidence
  • Responsible leadership

What’s involved?

The College Connect Team provides support and advice for articulating HNC/HND students transitioning from partner colleges to GCU. We aim to provide focused interventions and support to ensure that college students applying to GCU have the resources to gain the maximum benefit from their university studies.

GCU staff and Student Mentors offer support in colleges and at GCU as part of the University’s early induction programme.

Our activities aim to raise awareness of articulation routes, give students information about our degree courses and provide support to help ease the transition to University.

How will participating in this activity/opportunity allow students to make a positive difference in the communities that we serve?

Student mentors act as role models and GCU ambassadors, delivering a wide range of activities to increase young people's confidence, core skills and lifelong learning aspirations and help college students transition to GCU or higher education.

Many college student participants are now successfully studying at GCU, some becoming student mentors and working with the next cohort of college applicants.
