Postgraduate research

We will strengthen our research-teaching nexus to foster innovation and equip our graduates with the skills to deal with complex global challenges. We will increase the number of postgraduate research students while continuing to enhance the student experience.

As part of our Research Strategy 2020, we are evaluating our research-informed teaching culture, strengthening staff understanding of research, enhancing pedagogical research, making our research impact case studies available as resources for learning, and encouraging students’ awareness of research methods and GCU research outputs.

Increasing postgraduate research

GCU has over 550 postgraduate research students, a number which is increasing each year, and aims to double this number by 2020.

Since PGR training and development programmes have been co-ordinated by a centralised Graduate School, progression, retention and completion have gone beyond sector benchmarks. Completion rates for full-time students are 73%, for part-time students is 75%.
