Risk Event Log

The purpose of the Risk Event Log is to record incidents where a risk has materialised within the organisation, and to ensure any relevant lessons are learned and communicated to the relevant departments. The log should be used even if the risk that materialised was not identified through the risk management process.

Definition of a Risk Event

A Risk Event Log entry should be completed for any incidence where a risk has materialised and:

  • The reputation of the University has been impacted in an adverse way;
  • There has been significant adverse impact on the operations of the University; or
  • There has been significant financial loss to the University (If an event has not adversely impacted the reputation or operations of the University then Risk Event Log entries should be limited to those where the financial impact was greater than £50k.)
