VPN access

VPN access allows you to securely connect to the Caledonian network while you are away from the office. You can connect to personal and departmental network drives, use software or access files on your office PC, and access any other resources that are restricted to within the Caledonian network.

If you intend to use VPN access from home, you must have a broadband connection and a home PC, or University laptop.

How do I get VPN access?

GCU has increased the security for accessing VPN. This must now be requested by contacting the Service Desk via ithelp@gcu.ac.uk.

Prerequisite of gaining access to VPN

To ensure both you and the GCU network is safe, we require VPN users to perform a full system scan prior to being granted VPN access.

This includes GCU owned systems and personal devices.

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) gives a second layer of security when connecting to the VPN.

A strong password is required.  A minimum of 12 characters for your password is mandatory.

Accessing services off campus

Instructions and software can be accessed on Caledonian Connected.

You will then be prompted for a username and password at which point you use your University domain log in details.

Yes, you can connect to your personal H:drive and to any departmental drives you have access to in work.

Firstly, you must log in and connect to the VPN client.
