How do I access my email from the web client?

The staff email system can be accessed from a web client called Outlook Web App (OWA).

To logon, go to https://mail.gcu.ac.uk from a web browser and enter your username and domain/network password.

The full functionality of Outlook Web App is supported on the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox and Internet Explorer.  A light version is available for use with Safari.

The interface is also designed to be useable on mobile devices.

How do I set an out of office reply from the web client?

  1. Log on to the web client (Outlook Web App) at https://mail.gcu.ac.uk
  2. Click the Settings icon in the top right hand corner and then click Options
  3. Click Organize Email and then click Automatic Replies
  4. Type the reply, select the required options and click Save

How do I access a shared mailbox from the web client?

In a web browser, go to https://mail.gcu.ac.uk/owa followed by the email address of the shared mailbox (e.g. if the mailbox address is contact@gcu.ac.uk go to https://mail.gcu.ac.uk/owa/contact@gcu.ac.uk) and logon with your own username and password.

Alternatively:

  1. Log on to your own mailbox using the web client. (How to access your email from the web client)
  2. In the top right hand corner, click the arrow to the right of your name
  3. Click Open Another Mailbox
  4. Enter the name of the mailbox you want to open and click Open

When you access a shared mailbox from the web client it works as if it's your own mailbox, i.e. messages are sent from the shared mailbox and not by you on behalf of it, and anything you delete is moved to the shared mailbox deleted items folder.
