Windows Vista
- Click Start and select Control Panel > Network and Internet > Manage Wireless Networks.
- If you see 'eduroam' listed, right-click it and select Properties. Now go to step 8.
- If 'eduroam' is not listed, click Add and then Manually create a network profile.
- Enter eduroam as the network name.
- Choose WPA2 Enterprise as the security type.
- Choose AES as the Encryption type and click Next.
- On the next screen, click Change connection settings.
- Click the Security tab and then click Settings.
- Check that UTN USERFirst-Hardware is ticked in the Trusted Root Certification Authorities box.
- Next click Configure and untick Automatically... if any.
- Click OK on the next three windows.
- Now click Connect to...
- Enter your username in the following format:
Staff; username@gcu.ac.uk (eg abc1@gcu.ac.uk)
Students; username@gcu.ac.uk (eg ajones01@gcu.ac.uk)
Please note that this user name is NOT an email address - Enter your domain password
- Leave the Logon domain field empty
13. Your computer will authenticate and connect to the secure network.
Windows 7, 8 and 10
Installation for Windows PCs
- If you are on GCU campus, search for and connect to the Wireless network called eduroam.
- You will be presented with a login box.
- Enter the requested details in the following format: username@gcu.ac.uk and your current domain password.
- On the first connection you will be presented with a certificate authorisation page, Click Connect.
- The setup is now complete and you should be connected to eduroam.
