2017/18 PhD, MPhil, MRes and Professional Doctorate tuition fees

The following annual tuition fees apply to students commencing their postgraduate research in the academic year 2017- 2018. Please use this information in conjunction with our Fees and Refund Policy.

Postgraduate studentships

You may wish to apply for one of our postgraduate studentships or take advantage of our early payment discount which can help to reduce your university costs.

Continuing students

International students continue to pay the same annual fee rate they were charged in their first year of study for the duration of their course. You will find previous year tuition fees here.

Full-time tuition fees

Tuition fees are based on your level of study and country of residence and are listed below for full-time research.

Part-time tuition fees

Tuition fees are based on your level of study and country of residence and are listed below for part-time research.

The following part-time fees also apply to those undertaking a PhD by Previous Published Works.

Module fees for MRes

The average annual part-time fee above should be used as a guide only. Part-time courses are charged on a module by module basis. Module fees are as follows:

Professional Doctorate tuition fees

Tuition fees are based on your level of study and country of residence and are listed below for part-time professional doctorate study.

Continuing Professional Doctorate studies

All Professional Doctorate students continue to pay the same annual fee rate they were charged in their first year of study for the duration of their course. You will find previous year tuition fees here.

Additional costs

Tuition fees include library use, free WIFI on campus and full use of the student support services.

Continuation Fee

Students who have completed the prescribed minimum period of attendance, have completed the work and require only minimal supervision and access to University facilities must pay a continuation fee of £500 per year.

Administration Fee

Students who have completed the prescribed minimum period of attendance, have completed the work and no longer require supervision and access to University facilities must pay an administration fee of £120 per year.

Bench Fees

Research students should consider that bench fees may apply to their chosen area of study. For details of what bench fees apply, please get in touch.
