High voltage appointment for Professor Stewart

Professor Brian Stewart

Professor Brian G Stewart, of the School of Engineering and Built Environment at GCU, has been appointed to the position of Secretary of the IEEE Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation Society (DEIS).

The IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers) is the world’s largest professional engineering body, with more than 400,000 members and 38 different societies representing a variety of engineering subject disciplines.

Professor Stewart has been active in research activities related to high voltage engineering and electrical insulation for the past 14 years, and two years ago was appointed to serve as a member of the Administrative Committee of the DEIS.

Professor Stewart’s appointment also places him on the Executive of the IEEE DEIS Society, which has direct responsibility for the operation, overview and strategy of the Society’s activities. These activities range from research, promotion of new technologies, networking and professional development, education and relevant IEEE Journals, conference publications and IEEE engineering standards.
