Inspiring City Awards 2014

Inspiring City Awards 2014

Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) is backing the Inspiring City Awards 2014, which celebrates the people and organisations that make the city great.

The awards, hosted by The Herald and Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, in association with People Make Glasgow, recognise those who contribute to the city’s rich cultural and economic climate at home and across the world. They encompass the business community as well as those working in the arts and sport.

This is the second year the awards have taken place, with Glasgow School for Business and Society sponsoring the Best Corporate Social Responsibility category.

This category recognises an individual or group within an organisation who has inspired actions that make a significant difference to the wellbeing of the community in which they operate; an award which reflects the GCU’s core mission as a university committed to the common good. The shortlist for the Best Corporate Social Responsibility includes: City Building LLP; Glasgow Credit Union; Glasgow Taxis and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde.

Professor John Wilson, Executive Dean of Glasgow School for Business and Society at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU), said: “We are proud to sponsor the Inspiring City Best Corporate Social Responsibility Award. In line with the University motto, For The Common Good, the promotion of corporate social responsibility, combined with responsible business management, underpins teaching, learning and research activities at Glasgow School for Business and Society to inform and inspire our graduates, the business leaders of the future.”

The finalists will be crowned at an exclusive black-tie event in the city’s Grand Central Hotel on September 11. A full list of finalists is available here.
