Chair of the Fiscal Commission Working Group delivers lecture at GCU

Crawford Beveridge CBE delivered a guest lecture on the future of the economy in the event of an independent Scotland at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) on Tuesday, August 19.

The event was attended by 200 people, including students, members of GCU staff, representatives from the media and guests.

Mr Beveridge, who is Chair of the Fiscal Commission Working Group and Chair of the First Minister’s Council of Economic Advisers, presented the address entitled Economic foundations of an independent Scotland.

He gave analysis of the Scottish economy and an assessment of the macroeconomic framework proposed for an independent nation.

Mr Beveridge was welcomed to the campus by Professor John Wilson, Executive Dean, and Professor John Lennon, Vice Dean, of Glasgow School for Business and Society.

Professor Wilson said: “We were delighted to welcome Mr Beveridge to deliver his lecture at GCU. The University wishes to do all it can to provide a platform for informed debate and discussion as Scotland prepares for its historic referendum on independence next month.”
