Professor Yunus visited Daw Aung San Suu Kyi at her home in Yangon during the trip. Professor Yunus was in Myanmar at the invitation of the British Council and also met members of the government and business community to discuss the potential of social business and the role of business in the country's development.

The Nobel Laureates discussed social business programmes in Bangladesh and rural development in Myanmar. Professor Yunus invited Daw Aung San Suu Kyi to Bangladesh to visit social businesses and to attend next year’s Nobel Peace Laureates Summit, which he co-chairs the summit with former US president Jimmy Carter.

Professor Yunus also met Professor Aung Tun Thet and Professor Zaw Oo, senior economic advisers of Myanmar’s President Thein Sein, to discuss the social business experience in Bangladesh and around the world, and the potential for Myanmar.
