SSE recruits for second year of SSE Business Academy with GCU

15 May 2014

SSE, in partnership with Glasgow Caledonian University, is launching the second year of its innovative SSE Business Academy programme to support its expanding business and accelerate the development of new recruits.

The programme provides those successfully recruited as employees with an opportunity to gain hands on experience in one of SSE’s core business areas whilst studying for a BA Business and Customer Management at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU).  SSE is one of the leading energy companies in the UK, with interests in electricity and gas production, distribution, supply and services.

In 2013, SSE launched the SSE Business Academy in partnership with GCU.

The programme ensures that employees will enhance their learning and put that learning into practice, with the chance to understand the dynamics of the SSE organisation and its core values. On completion of the programme, SSE aims to place successful employees throughout its business operations, spanning customer services, energy sales, energy service, marketing and corporate areas. SSE’s Director of Human Resources John Stewart says: “SSE identified a need to build a talent pipeline to support succession needs across its commercial areas. We are excited by this programme that combines real business experience with structured learning support.”
