GCCN celebrates graduations

16 December 2013

Grameen Caledonian College of Nursing has celebrated the graduation of 40 students at a ceremony in Dhaka.

GCU Chancellor Professor Muhammad Yunus presented certificates and prizes to the graduates and was joined at the ceremony by College Principal Professor Barbara Parfitt, who is retiring from her role this month, and her successor Professor Frank Crossan. Professor Crossan brought greetings from GCU Principal Professor Pamela Gillies.

Professor Parfitt, who was awarded a plaque by GCCN staff and students in recognition of her dedication to GCCN, said: “It was a wonderful event.

“The students took the Florence Nightingale oath to serve as dedicated nurses for the improvement of health in Bangladesh.  They then put on a wonderful cultural programme of dancing, singing and drama. It was a great day to remember for all of us.”
