Social Enterprise at GCU

Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) and the Social Enterprise Academy welcomed a range of over 40 businesses and third sector organisations to GCU to a successful evening debate - Social Enterprise: an academic discussion or changing the way we do business?

Alistair Grimes, Director of Rocket Science UK Ltd, chaired the event, which encouraged delegates to discuss the similarities and differences between businesses and social enterprises. They also gave good descriptions of motivations and desired outcomes for each type of organisation.

Our speakers were Jim Mullan, who has been responsible for the development of KibbleWorks’ business portfolio since 2003, and Ewan Foreman, Managing Director of 1LET Ltd and Managing Director and Chairman of the AWL Group.

Delegates could also find out more about the part-time MSc in Social Enterprise– the only postgraduate degree in Scotland designed specifically for the growing Social Enterprise Sector – developed through the collaboration of Glasgow Caledonian University and the Social Enterprise Academy.
