Applications open for Mauritius scholarship

31 January 2018

Students from Glasgow Caledonian University are being offered a “truly amazing” chance to visit the African Leadership College in Mauritius through a fully-funded scholarship.

Successful applicants will stay in student halls and attend classes at the ALC for a week in March.

The ALC Mauritius Scholarship covers flight, accommodation, food, and four leadership lectures and is open to UK undergraduate students from a low-income background.

As well as attending classes, students will be able to explore the sights of Port Louis in Mauritius.

Student Jayde O’Connor, who secured an ALC scholarship last year, said: “The opportunity was life-changing in so many ways and has made a great difference to my future outlook on life.”

Jackie Main, Director of Student Experience at GCU, said: “These scholarships offer students a truly amazing international opportunity.

“This is a week which I am sure students will remember for the rest of their lives and one which has the potential to have a profound impact on their personal development and future careers.

“I really look forward to hearing what students say about their experiences and to seeing how this impacts on their confidence and success.”

Applications are open now and the closing date is Wednesday, February 14, at 5pm.

Students must be progressing well on their course and be available for interview the week commencing February 19.
