Researchers' work cited by Harvard Graduate School

The work of Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) researchers on newly qualified social workers has been cited by the Harvard Graduate School.

Researchers Scott Grant, Lynn Sheridan and Professor Stephen Webb, from the department of Social Work, conducted the original research in 2014 when they produced an evaluation study for the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

The Readiness for Practice of Newly Qualified Social Workers provided an evaluation of the support and learning of newly qualified social workers during their first period of employment. The evaluation was only the second study of its kind to be carried out in Scotland.

Researcher Scott Grant said: “We were delighted to learn that the research carried out was cited by the Harvard Graduate School. The news comes on the back of the announcement that the Complete University Guide ranked social work 2nd in Scotland, and 8th in the UK, and most recently, the Guardian placed the department 6th in the UK, both phenomenal achievements.”
