Pupils from St Bartholomew’s Primary School have taken part in the prestigious Glasgow Music Festival with the support of Glasgow Caledonian University’s Caledonian Club.

It’s the first time the Castlemilk school’s choir, who have performed at GCU’s annual Christmas Concert and in George Square, have competed in a contest. They faced schools across the city and narrowly missed out on third place.

The Caledonian Club provided drama and choral support to help them prepare.

Nathan Tagg, Caledonian Club Manager, said: “It is great to see the hard work of the pupils, school staff, the choir team and GCU’s Student Mentors come together for the Glasgow Music Festival performance. We were all very excited to see the pupils perform. Their progress from choir practise to their first performances, to competition at the event has been great to witness and the pupils should be as proud of their effort and commitment as everyone at the Caledonian Club is of them.”

Around 7000 singers are performing at the 105th Glasgow Music Festival, the city’s annual celebration of song, music, dance, speech and drama.
