Two Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) students have picked up prizes at this year’s Insurance and Actuarial Society of Glasgow (IASG) annual dinner. Siobhan Watt, a BA Finance, Investment and Risk student, was named the Financial Services Student of the Year, and Jamie Marshall, a BA Risk Management student, won the Risk Management Student of the Year.

A further four GCU students were shortlisted for the awards and attended the event, which took place in Glasgow last week (November 25 ) and was attended by more than 600 insurance and financial services professionals.

Dr Patrick Ring, Senior Lecturer in Financial Services at GCU, said: “We are delighted for both Siobhan and Jamie.  These well-deserved accolades highlight both the quality of our students and the industry-relevance of our programmes.”

The IASG is the West of Scotland arm of the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII), the world's largest professional body dedicated to insurance and financial services, with more than 120,000 members in more than 150 countries.
