GCU shortlisted for Social Enterprise Partner of the Year Award

Glasgow Caledonian University has been shortlisted for the Social Enterprise Partner of the Year Award.

The Social Enterprise Awards is a nationwide competition that celebrates the work and achievements of the UKs most inspiring and successful social enterprises.

The overall UK winners will be presented with their awards at a ceremony to be held at the Indigo O2 venue in London on 30th March, where Leader of the Opposition, Ed Miliband, will present the awards.

More than 1,000 people are expected to gather at the evening reception following the close of the Social Enterprise Coalition's annual conference, Voice 11. This years awards have been more hotly contested than ever before, with a record number of entries, double the number that are usually received.

Glasgow Caledonian University has, together with the Social Enterprise Academy, developed an MSc in Social Enterprise - the only postgraduate degree in Scotland designed specifically for the social enterprise sector.

Glasgow Caledonian University has demonstrated a deep understanding of how social enterprises operate as agents for positive change defined by their social and environmental missions and this chimes with the universitys strategic mission and values.

The University's work with the Social Enterprise Academy is a unique partnership bringing together academic rigour with practitioner focus for an emerging sector which will play a vital role in the sustainable economy of the 21st century.
