Glasgow Caledonian University Honorary Graduate David Hayman is to read from lecturer Chris Dolan’s new novel at a launch event.

Mr Hayman will read extracts from Lies of the Land, the second Maddy Shannon mystery written by Mr Dolan, an award-winning novelist, poet, playwright and lecturer on GCU’s MA TV Fiction Writing programme.

They will be joined by MA TV Fiction Writing students and alumni, who will be performing their work, and there will be music from the Bookends featuring Maeve McKinnon. GCU Cultural Fellow BAFTA-winning actress Juliet Cadzow will also attend.

Mr Dolan said: “It's a real delight to launch Lies of the Land with my friends and colleagues at GCU. The MA TV Fiction Writing programme and the Social Sciences, Media and Journalism department are committed to combining learning with industry practice. So, launching the mystery with academics, industry professionals, and the support of GCU Cultural Fellows and Honorary Graduates, students and alumni feels very appropriate and exciting.”

The event is in GCU’s Campus Life Seminar Rooms 1 and 2 from 6.30pm on Wednesday, June 1.To register visit
