GCU takes part in Ashoka U Exchange

23 February 2016

GCU will join fellow Changemaker Campus partners at the Ashoka U Exchange 2016 conference, taking place in New Orleans, Louisiana, this week (February 25-27).

Ashoka U is an initiative of Ashoka, the world’s largest network of social entrepreneurs. Ashoka U takes an institutional change approach to impact the education of millions of students and fosters a culture of social innovation in higher education.

Principal and Vice-Chancellor Professor Pamela Gillies CBE FRSE will lead GCU’s delegation to the conference and will take part in the President’s Exchange, a series of events for University leaders from the Ashoka U Network. Professor Gillies will take part in a keynote roundtable discussion on changing campus culture.

GCU was designated a Changemaker Campus by Ashoka U in 2014 in recognition of its global leadership role in promoting social innovation education.

At the Ashoka U Exchange, hosted by Tulane University in New Orleans, GCU will join discussions on fostering inclusive changemaker communities, building community partnerships, creating student pathways for innovation, measuring the impact of changemaking, and pedagogy to cultivate social entrepreneurs through higher education. The conference differs from others in offering site visits to a number of social entrepreneurs in New Orleans.

Other attendees will be GCU’s Director of Digital Collaboration Julie Adair and the Yunus Centre for Social Business and Health.
