Fair Fashion Center to present at SXSW in Texas

05 February 2016

GCU’s Fair Fashion Center has been selected to present at the upcoming SXSW conference in Austin, Texas.

As one of the 18 panel sessions chosen to present at SXStyle, the discussion entitled 'Fair Fashion: Profitability and Sustainability' will take place on March 12, at the Westin Austin Downtown.

Cara Smyth, Vice President of GCU New York and founding Director of The Fair Fashion Center, and Frank Zambrelli, Senior Advisor to the Fair Fashion Center, will outline opportunities to move beyond corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, and embed sustainable business practices across internal functions. Each will provide a variety of examples of efforts that revalue ecosystems, and promote economic and social well-being using market-based solutions reconciled to the bottom line.

Now in its second year, SXstyle Convergence Track explores the complex ties between fashion, art, culture and technology. Through programming and networking events, SXstyle offers a platform for creatives in these communities to come together to learn and innovate.

2016 highlights include Featured Sessions with key players who are revolutionising the style industry such as Amber Venz and Emily Weiss.

GCU’s Fair Fashion Center, which launched at GCU New York last year, engages academic and business leaders, driven by its mission to prove the business case for sustainability in the apparel and accessories industry.
