Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) students are teaming up with students from City of Glasgow College and Dusseldorf’s Lore-Lorentz Schule to learn about the snow-sports industry in South Tyrol.

More than 20 Glasgow School for Business and Society undergraduate and postgraduate students who are studying International Sports Management, International Events Management, Tourism and Hospitality and Multimedia Journalism will be joined by lecturers Robert Kielty and Jenny Flinn.

Said Mr Kielty: “We have recently collaborated in sporting projects with both the Schule and College and this is a wonderful opportunity for all of the students to work together and share their skills as well as observe close up the successful European snow-sports industry.

“The students will take an academic and practical approach to studying tourism, events and the snow-sports industry. The School’s Multimedia Journalism students will help us explore the value  of social media and video production in supporting an industry that is growing rapidly in Scotland. We hope this experience will give our students opportunities in further developing the industry at home.

“In addition, the trip represents a major development in our collaboration with both institutions to support internationalisation of the curriculum and student transition and mobility, as well as working with our community partners for the Common Good.”
