Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) welcomed Scotland Manager Gordon Strachan to the campus to speak to students, staff and guests for the second Caledonian Sporting Conversation.

The conversation event was hosted by BBC commentator and GCU PhD student John Cullen. Principal and Vice Chancellor Professor Pamela Gillies CBE introduced Mr Strachan, who answered questions about his playing and managerial career before being interviewed by Multimedia Journalism students from GCU’s Glasgow School for Business and Society.

He spoke of his love of football from an early age, the power of sport, and how it can be used to help people.

Dr John Harris, Reader in International Sport and Event Management from the Glasgow School for Business and Society, added: “The conversation was a great success and Gordon Strachan clearly highlighted how important sport can be for individuals and communities.”

In conversation with Gordon Strachan followed GCU’s inaugural sporting conversation, which featured Honorary Graduate and Olympic rower Dr Katherine Grainger.
