The rising stars of Scotland’s gaming industry once again came together at GCU to take part in a worldwide race against the clock to develop original action-packed games in just 48 hours.

GCU welcomed 115 participants to the Scottish Game Jam, part of the phenomenally successful Global Game Jam, which is held in 63 countries and attended by 17,000 people.

The Scottish Game Jam has gained an international reputation and demand for places this year was as high as ever.

The event was held on the ground floor of the Saltire Centre.

Twenty-six games were produced at this year’s Jam, some flipping existing genres on their head and others using virtual reality headsets.

The games can be viewed and played here.

Brian McDonald, Programme Leader and Lecturer in Games Software Development within the School of Engineering and Built Environment, said: “The event was a huge success. I thank all staff who supported it and took time out of their busy schedule to help organise it.”
