A Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) graduate has been named UK Chartered Financial Planner of the Year by the Personal Finance Society.

Lisa Johnstone, now a Director and Chartered Financial Planner with VMW Wealth, received the flagship award in recognition of the high standards of professionalism she has demonstrated and her passion for the profession.

She said: “I am honoured to have received this award from the professional body for financial planning and hope to be an ambassador for the profession.”

The Personal Finance Society awards recognise the contribution which Chartered Financial Planners make to raise professional standards.

Dr Patrick Ring, Senior Lecturer in Financial Services, Glasgow School for Business and Society, said: “Both Lisa and the University should be very proud. This prestigious award is recognition of the calibre of GCU’s financial services graduates, as well as the quality of its BA Finance, Investment and Risk programme.”

Lisa joined the Minister of State for Pensions Steve Webb MP at the Chartered Award dinner, where he delivered a keynote speech to more than 600 guests before the awards ceremony.
